Foodtechnics Receives TDB-DST Support to Commercialize Indigenous ROTIDO C-150 Automatic Roti Making Machine

Bengaluru: Foodtechnics has received financial assistance from the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, for the commercialization of its indigenous ROTIDO – Compact Automatic Roti Making Machine with Inbuilt Kneader, Pressing and Roasting.

The project supports the commercialization of a fully indigenous, compact automated roti-making system designed for households, small businesses, restaurants, and institutional kitchens, aligning with India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through homegrown manufacturing and innovation.

The Foodtechnics project focuses on the development and commercialization of ROTIDO C-150, a compact and intelligent roti-making machine that integrates kneading, dough handling, pressing, roasting, and automatic ejection into a single automated system.

Designed to produce up to 150 rotis per hour, the machine aims to deliver consistent quality while significantly reducing manual effort, improving hygiene, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Developed entirely through Foodtechnics’ in-house research and development efforts, the technology builds on the company’s previously commercialized industrial models, ROTIDO R-1000 and RS-1000.

The company is now introducing a compact solution specifically designed for domestic users and small commercial establishments.

The project also received support under the NIDHI PRAYAS Scheme for prototype development, marking a successful innovation journey from early-stage technology development to commercialization.

This progression reflects the company’s efforts to bring indigenous kitchen automation technologies to a broader market.

A major innovation in the Foodtechnics ROTIDO C-150 is the integration of a 2 kg inbuilt kneader, an automated dough ball feeding system, a precision pressing mechanism, and a three-layer controlled roasting technology within a compact footprint. Intelligent process synchronization, programmable controls, and an integrated dough weighing system ensure uniform thickness, consistent roasting, and repeatable product quality with minimal human intervention.

The modular and energy-efficient design enables hygienic operation while making automated roti preparation accessible and affordable for a wider segment of users.

The compact design is intended to meet the needs of homes as well as small food businesses seeking automation without requiring large industrial equipment.

The Foodtechnics project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing ecosystem for food processing equipment by offering an indigenous alternative to imported automated kitchen solutions.

Besides improving convenience and productivity, the technology has the potential to support restaurants, cloud kitchens, hostels, hospitals, canteens, and small food enterprises by reducing labour dependency, improving food consistency, and enhancing operational efficiency.
